The Leading Hotels of the World, Ltd. is the prestigious luxury marketing organization representing 400 of the world’s finest hotels. Headquartered in New York City, the company maintains a network of 18 regional offices in key cities around the world.
The Business Challenge
The Leading Hotels of the World (LHW) had to provide 18 local offices scattered all over the world with both a high-end messaging service integrated and with an ERP solution. When LHW first met ASP-One's executive team in 2000, the decision was already made on Microsoft eEnterprise (formerly GreatPlains Solutions) and Exchange 2000. However, LHW needed an IT partner that would help them customize and implement GreatPlains eEnterprise. ASP-One found out a consulting partner, designed the technical architecture a hosted environment that would include eEnterprise on a dedicated load-balanced IBM dual-processor cluster and Exchange in a shared configuration, while all data would be maintained on ASP-One SAN (IBM "Shark"), supported by a SQL 2000 database back-end.
Initial redundant disk space was estimated to 120GB on the RAID 5 Enterprise Storage Server. eEnterprise is web-delivered using Microsoft Windows Terminal Services and Citrix Metaframe XP.
